We would recommend having the 3D/4D ultrasound performed between the 26th and 34th week of the pregnancy for a single visit. However, excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime after about 24 weeks of pregnancy.
What is the best way to take 4D ultrasound pictures?
To obtain a 3D/4D ultrasound, our waves need to travel through fluid. More fluid in front of baby’s face, means better quality od pictures. If a baby is right up against the placenta or the side of the uterus, the waves have to travel through these to and back from the face, causing a cloudy look.

Before Your Exam Drink 32 ounces (four glasses) of water one hour before your examination time. You can go to the bathroom to relieve yourself, as long as you keep drinking water.
