Rio Ferdinand has named Marcus Rashford, Anthony and Tyrell Malacia as the three players Manchester United need to sell in January.

United suffered their worst league finish in 131 years after Sunday’s 3-1 home defeat to Brighton, with Ruben Amorim suggesting it could be the worst side in the club’s history

as the club slumped to 13th in the Premier League. Ferdinand has admitted Rashford, Anthony and Malacia must be sold, claiming the trio bring “a cancerous energy” to the dressing room. Speaking on the Rio

Presents podcast, Ferdinand said: “I’ve been told Anthony is going to Real Betis or wherever. Get him out of here!

“Sorry, but I’m being honest – the more people like that around, the more noise they make, the better. Get them out of here and let’s start anew. “

Rashford, who is now one of the most senior members of Amorim’s squad after remaining at Old Trafford for over a decade. Revealed that he was keen to move on from Manchester United in a bombshell interview earlier this month.

Rashford’s form has dropped off drastically in recent seasons. With the forward netting just 11 league goals from 48 appearances across the last two campaigns.

Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan have both expressed interest in the out-of-favour star in January. With a loan exit appearing the most likely outcome at this stage.

Meanwhile, Antony has proved a disaster at Old Trafford since his £86million move from Ajax in 2023, chalking up a mere 17 goal contributions from 96 appearances on the wing.
