Enzo Maresca has defended Robert Sanchez after the Spain goalkeeper’s mistake in Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

Sanchez lost the ball and Matt Doherty cleaned up the ball to give Wolves an equaliser from a corner but Chelsea held on to claim the win.

The 27-year-old has faced criticism for his mistakes but Maresca played down the mistake and insisted the Spaniard has saved points for the Blues.

Maresca called for an ‘immediate’ improvement in Madueke and called him out for what he perceived to be a drop-off from the England international after he had headed his team’s third goal in the 65th minute.

It was the second time this season that Madueke has been called out publicly over his work rate.

“Four mistakes that led to a goal? How many saves has he made? สมัครสมาชิก UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีทุกวัน I think more than four, for sure,” Maresca said.

‘Never happy if you score one or two, always you have to go for more. After he scored the goal he stopped playing a little bit and it’s something that we need to improve.

‘We just try always to help them to improve. After the goal probably he was a little bit tired, but it’s the moment we need to go for more.’

“No problem. Mistakes can happen to anyone, him, a forward, a defender or a midfielder… No problem because Robert is doing well.”
